ABOUT US | BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Meydenbauer Center is owned and operated by the Bellevue Convention Center Authority (BCCA), a public development authority chartered by the City of Bellevue. The BCCA was created in December, 1989, and has a seven-member board appointed by the City Manager with the concurrence of Bellevue City Council.

Suzanne Baugh, Chairman

Ms. Baugh is a commercial real estate broker with Cushman & Wakefield. She previously worked with The Staubach Company, Equity Office and Wright Runstad & Company. Ms. Baugh has been actively involved in the development of Bellevue's downtown for more than 10 years through her involvement with the Bellevue Downtown Association where she served for two years as Chairman. She served as Co-chair of the Bellevue Economic Partnership and as Vice Chair for Economic Vitality and Strong Business Environment for the Bellevue Chamber of Commerce. She is past chair and board member of the Bellevue Family YMCA. Ms. Baugh began her term on the Authority Board in 2000 and her current term expires January 2, 2012.

Rick Carlson, Vice Chairman

Mr. Carlson is the Managing Partner of the Peterson Russell Kelly law firm in downtown Bellevue. Mr. Carlson was born in Bellevue and is an active community member through his involvement in Crossroads Bible Church, coaching baseball and basketball through Little League and the Boys & Girls Club. His four children attend Bellevue Public Schools. He is a member of the Bellevue Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Carlson began his term on the Authority Board in May 2005 and his current term expires January 2, 2012.

Daniel R. Watson, Director

Mr. Watson is the Deputy Executive Director of the King County Housing Authority and has worked with the Authority for the past 30 years heading up the financing and development of new affordable housing projects throughout King County. Mr. Watson has extensive experience in complex public/private financing through a wide variety of projects. Mr. Watson is on the Executive Board of the Housing Development Consortium of King County and was a member of the Bellevue Affordable Housing Task Force. Mr. Watson is actively involved with Little League baseball in the Bellevue area. Mr. Watson began his term on the Authority Board in May 2005 and his term expires on January 2, 2012.

Roger Anderson, Director

Mr. Anderson is the retired Chairman and CEO of GLY Construction Company. He has been a Bellevue resident since 1976. He served on the Bellevue Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors from 1997-2004. He has also served on boards of the local and district YMCA over the past 25 years and is a member of the Overlake Hospital Foundation Board of Directors. Mr. Anderson began his term(s) on the Authority Board in 2000 and his current term expires January 2, 2013.

Stephen Dennis, Director

Mr. Dennis retired as President of Quadrant Corporation, a Bellevue company, after a 30 year career in real estate development and homebuilding. Currently Mr. Dennis is on the board of Puget Sound Bank and the Children's Home Society of Washington. Mr. Dennis has served on the boards of the Bellevue Downtown Association, Seattle Chamber, Seattle King County Economic Development Commission, and National Association of Industrial Parks Developers. He is currently a Mediator in the Bellevue Mediation Program and past co-chair of the Critical Areas Citizens Advisory Committee. Mr. Dennis began his term on the Authority Board on May 2, 2005 and his current term expires January 2, 2013.

Ron Hofilena, Director

Mr. Hofilena began his Hospitality career in 1979 with the Best Western Greenwood Inn.  His extensive industry experience includes various financial and operational positions including managing properties for the Red Lion, The Claremont Hotel, Silver Cloud, Embassy Suites, Coast Hotel, the Kimpton Group, and is currently the Hotel Manager of the Bellevue Club Hotel.  Ron was recently re-elected to a second term for the Washington State Hotel and Lodging Association (WSHLA) board of directors.  He has also served as the President of the Puget Sound Chapter of HFTP (Hospitality, Financial and Technology Professionals.) Mr. Hofilena is married with two children and has called Bellevue home since 1974. He is a graduate of the University of Washington and is active in his local PTA, coaching and supporting the youth athletic programs in which his children are involved. Mr. Hofilena began his first three year term on the Authority Board on May 5, 2008 and his current term expires January 1, 2014. These are listed in Alphabetical order except the chair and vice chair.

Ann Kawasaki Romero, Director

Ms. Kawasaki Romero is the executive director of the Washington State Public Stadium Authority. Kawasaki Romero oversaw the development of Qwest Field and Event Center and currently oversees maintenance and operation of the facility on behalf of the public. With more than 25 years of managerial experience in local government, her prior work experience includes serving as Finance and Operations Director of the Washington State Major League Baseball Stadium Public Facilities District (SAFECO Field), Director of the Kingdome, and Deputy King County Public Works Director. Kawasaki Romero is currently a member of the Seattle Sounders FC Advisory Committee, and a past member of the Bellevue Convention Center Authority Financial Oversight Committee. She has also served as a board member for various non-profit community based organizations including the Japanese Cultural and Community Center of Washington, Asian Counseling & Referral Service, Nikkei Concerns, and the Northwest Asian American Theater. Kawasaki Romero received her undergraduate degree from Pomona College, studied at the John F. Kennedy School for Government at Harvard University through Sloan Foundation Academic Fellowship, and received her graduate degree from the University of Washington. She resides in Bellevue, Wash., with her husband and two children. Ms. Kawasaki Romero's first term on the BCCA Board began March 21, 2011 and continues until January 1, 2014.

Robert C. Wallace, Director Emeritus

Mr. Wallace is active in the ownership, management and development of commercial properties within the Pacific Northwest as CEO of Wallace Properties, Inc. Mr. Wallace is past Chairman of the Washington State Major League Baseball Stadium Public Facilities District Board of Directors. He is past Chairman of the Seattle Chamber of Commerce and Kingdome Advisory Board and a past member of the Board of Directors of the Washington State Convention and Trade Center. Mr. Wallace is a member of the Board of Directors of First Mutual Bank and a past Trustee of Seattle Pacific University. He began his term(s) on the Authority Board in 1989, served as Chair from 1995 to 2001 and served as a board member through 2009. He was named Director Emeritus in 2010.
